Soumendra N. Bhanja

Soumendra Bhanja currently works at the Environmental Sciences Division, Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Postdoctoral Research Associate after completing a postdoctoral stints at the Indian Institute of Science, India and Athabasca University, Canada. He has experience in developing a process-based biogeochemical model for water quality applications and soil greenhouse gas emissions. He is also working on groundwater recharge, storage and their controlling factors, and water resources management in India and Canada. He has worked at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center being a recipient of the Fulbright fellowship. He has won many awards and recognitions such as C. V. Raman Postdoctoral Fellowship, National Postdoctoral Fellowship, Fulbright Fellowship, CSIR Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Fellowship and Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute’s Student Mobility Grant. He has published in well-reputed scientific journals, and his research has been highlighted in several national and international news agencies including coverage in NASA’s “Image of the Day”.
